The Anatomies of Yoga
The morning practice will be a Yang style session, whereas the afternoon practice will explore the wide spectrum of Yin yoga teachings. See details about classes below.
Morning Yang Yoga Workshops 9.30-12.00
The dynamic Yang style is a flowing, continuously moving practice that builds energy, flexibility & strength. Within this yang practice it is essential to balance the linear, alignment based approach that we so commonly see in the practice of yoga, with the natural, circular & spiral movement patterns that exist in nature. After preparatory practice & instruction we will flow through the continuously moving Yang sequence, from where we will then study the detail of some key backbend & inversions.
Yin Yoga Workshop 14.00-17.30
Yin Yoga is a combination of ‘restorative’ asana & more challenging passive, earth based postures inspired by Taoist Yoga. We will hold these asanas for several minutes. This meditative yin practice stimulates the energy channels throughout the body, opens the joints & arouses our connective tissue, builds reservoirs of energy & is deeply nourishing. We will follow our breath into the innermost realms of our being, as we understand the meditative qualities of this method. The session will conclude with a seated meditation.
These workshops are open to & appropriate for teachers & students of all styles of yoga with some experience. No absolute beginners please.

Study & Training Workshop for teachers & interested students with experience
Connecting with Connective Tissue
A workshop exploring the ligaments, tendons & facia within the human body & the role of this ‘connective tissue’ in the health of our being
Connective tissue has in recent years become recognised as the most important ‘system’ within our body. This network of tissue plays key roles in the health of the ’physical’ & ‘subtle’ anatomies, & its understanding is an essential step toward the understanding of who we are.
This workshop is open to teachers, trainee teachers, & interested students with experience. Come prepared to work ‘hands-on’ in pairs & small groups. Make sure that you have ‘warmed’ your body prior to the sessions, or have completed Simon’s or other morning yoga or other physical practice.

Yin & Yang Yoga is essential for every student in the cultivation of a ‘balanced’ yoga practice.
This led-practice will include both Yin & Yang practices to explore & enjoy.
We are primarily made up of circles & spirals, rather than straight lines. Within the dynamic practice of yoga, it is essential to balance the linear alignment based approach we so commonly practice in yoga, with the energy & flow of the natural circular & spiral movement patterns that exist within all of nature. Another opportunity to practice the flowing Yang sequence & to learn & explore its finer details.
Yin & Restorative postures will feature in the second hour of the class to lead you toward a final seated meditation & relaxation.
This workshop is open to & will benefit students of all styles of yoga, & of all levels of experience. No absolute beginners please.
